This lifeless presentation of synth drenched '80s goth initially made me laugh, but a few minutes in I started to get drawn in by the NEW ORDER-on-Dramamine swarms of keyboards and the spoken female vocals began to remind me of CRASS. THE JOY OF LIFE sound like anything but - slow, dreary and depressing songs with dramatic vocals that bring back all to vivid memories of teenage years locked away in the corner of my room, wondering if there was any hope. Not that I ever did anything like that of course...

Really into the the noisier delayed-space guitar slides on "Abolition". The male vocals are great...Wire/Graham Lewis inspired. Actually, both vocal deliveries are great! This fits my aesthetic.
What a nice suprise! This isn't The Joy Of Life but DUET, 2 members that were in Youth In Asia before. Listen to 'Substraction' and you can hear that it's the same song 'Dreams Of Tomorrow' on the 'We Don't Want Your Fucking Law' comp. on Fight Back. Don't know why the song has different titles.
Who were this band, I got this off the old Avicus blogspot, was anything else made, they are not to be confused with Joy of Life. I think this is so brilliant it is too beautiful to be forgotten, it should be issued on vinyl or something. If this is all there was it is a brilliant legacy.
