WASTEOID // PLACK BLAGUE

What a fukkn beast this thing is. An unexpected surprise in the recent package from Lalo, feast your ears on a collision of primal grind and sexual noise. WASTEOID need no introduction to attentive visitors, raw Great Plains GrindCore captured live in early 2003 (just a few months after I saw them for the first time). As relentless as that side is, the flip is the real treat. The first known (to me) recordings from Lincoln, Nebraska's PLACK BLAGUE, the industrial noise side project from WASTEOID drummer Ross. PLACK BLAGUE's more recent releases have raised (more than a few) eyebrows, and rightly so - it's a filthy combination of techno house and perverted industrial dance captured here in its most primal infancy. There is not one pretty sound on either side of this cassette...because life is fukkn ugly. So let's all sweat and fukk and get weird until we die.

I know both sides are live, but I feel like y'all don't pay enough attention to Escape Is Terminal and I would hate for tracks like "Better Hate For Living" and "Hammer Sized Dents All Over Your Face" to go unheard.

BIB

Pretty massive sounding Midwest hardcore. Following the "everything louder than everything else" approach to recording, their already colossal riffs feel kinda like an avalanche when the bottom drops. They added a (third) guitar at the EINOK2 show, and the wall of beef on that stage was imposing before they hit a note...listen to the discordant chugs during "Baby Worm" and it won't be hard to imagine how terrifying it was. Squirmy affected vocals veer things from huge to weird...and these tapes are dubbed so hot that it hurts to touch 'em. Plop this band in New York or Toronto or Boston and everyone would be soaking their drawers and humping their legs...that's why the middle of the country rules, punks.

As is often the case, the physical cassette manifestation that I try to capture here has a different vibe than the digital version...it's not a better or worse thing, but this is how these punks sold be the tape, so this is how I share it with you, you know? I want my experience to be your experience.

ARMATRON

This relic is a total mindfukk. Bass, drums and electronics combine with chaotic, impassioned vocals to create a truly bizarre ruckus. A painful experience all around, but one offered up with a sincerity that trumps execution or pretense. I dare say that when I realized was recorded 22 years ago in Nebraska, I thought it made perfect sense.

PEACE OF SHIT

You can dismiss this as hipster schlock if you like, but it'd be your loss. PEACE OF SHIT is the solo project of some dude who is in some band that people (presumably) care about though I think now they are a real band maybe...but all I care about right now is these damn songs. It's like some space age Reatard shit and THE SPITS all blissed out and half drunk making a party in my kitchen and arguing about whether or not INDUSTRIAL PARK is the second coming of MY BLOODY VALENTINE. While I like my kitchen in its current and empty state, I kinda like the idea of this fuzzed out 4-track party happening on the floor right next to where I make my sandwiches...

I read on the internet that PEACE OF SHIT have changed their name to DUMB BEACH. That's like changing your name from something weird and stupid to something that's just stupid. Good job.
