COLLAPSE

Earnest USDIY hardcore from a few years ago, I like this one more the more I listen. Detroit's COLLAPSE capture early '00s heavy/melodic intensity, channel churning '90s Euro squat punk, and they still sound like they could roll into Chattanooga and get along just fine. An upfront honesty that translates as honesty helps the band transcend genre labels, and I'll take these two EPs over trite modern calculated 'core any damn day. The search never ever ends, just so we all are on the same page.

Albums like this demonstrate how being formulaic isn't a bad thing if the formula is a good one executed well. A fun listen.
