This might be one of those "time and place" bands, but I dare say that if you lived anywhere near Indianapolis, Indiana in the '90s and knew about hardcore, then you liked BLATHERSKITE. I saw them once in 1993, and at the time had seen nothing like it...well ahead of their time, churning out brutally heavy hardcore with irreverent precision. Johan's vocal growls are low and sinister, and the overall effect of the band is akin to a wall of death administered by a team of earthmovers - get out of the way or submit. The rhythm section went on to form ICE NINE, one of the most criminally under recognized bands of the decade, and San Francisco passion metal pioneers TIME IN MALTA, but this demo is fukkn primal. From the opening "Yo Scoth, drop it, G" you know this isn't your average demo, BLATHERSKITE were something else.

This is so weird...
#1-Recently, I ripped my copy of the split with Natural Cause to my itunes and started thinking that I wish I could find their demo.
#2-I had a dream last night, where, for some reason, I was in a cafe in Indy or Bloomington and the weather channel was on. The music playing on the weather channel was "green" by blatherskite. I made a comment to someone about how good Blatherskite was and we got to talking about their demo (although, I'm pretty certain I've never heard THIS demo. I used to have what I think was a 2nd demo they did). So yeah, thanks. They were a good band.
This shit's TIGHT! Thanks!
Great band. I never got a chance to see them, cause they broke up right before I started going to shows in the early 90's, but they were ahead of their time and a classic example (like Ice Nine) of a brilliant band that got overlooked because they were from Indiana.
I still see Scoth on the regular and used to work with him. He is still insane on the drums! Hope Ice Nine can pull it together enough to finish that new album.
could someone please re up this?
By "someone," you mean "Wizard," right?
Re-upped.
