The folks at Loathed Sound have seemingly closed up shop, but their run provided so many lovingly curated releases and giving necessary space to true American visionary artists. This compilation, in particular, captures their mission in sound - 90 minutes of free jazz and protoAfroFuturism and unfathomable sonic power from household names like Sharrock, Cherry and Ra, but also DOUGLAS QUIN, LARRY MARSHALL, ARCHE SHEPP, JEAN CARN, MARION BROWN and others. It's a collection that delivers with a calm presence, an honesty...reflection. And when you hear Don Cherry plainly state "there shall be no more killing: peace, peace....peace," you almost believe him.
