DR. IDENTITY

This is one of the 2010s releases that seems to have gotten lost in the shuffle, and some genius is going to "discover" is in a few years and it's going to be regarded (rightly) as a stone classic. WIPERS caliber dark punk sensibilities fronted by the most hesitantly gorgeous voice, this self-titled tape will work its way under your skin. Listen to "Permanent." Listen to "The Fog." Listen to the do you really want to? chorus in "Pet." All of it. Sharp, fierce, the very embodiment of the thing that reviewers call "angular" or "post punk," and it's right here. For you.

Not sure how I missed this post months ago. This tape was the sole output of a fairly short lived project. We practiced for nine months, recorded this tape just before our first show, played a dozen or so shows around the PNW (mostly in Portland) over the next year, then our singer/guitarist bailed and it was over. Right after this Erika and I went on to start the even more shorted live Negative Option (who existed for nine months, playing a half dozen shows and putting out a tape just before our vocalist quit), and Erika also started Collate (who have several releases out and are still going 3 1/2+ years later. I think Erika might have a couple of copies of this tape stashed somewhere. If anyone is interested, they should message here via the Dr Identity band camp page.
