SALTED EARTH were active when I moved back to the Bay Area, and I saw them a couple of times, but they faded pretty quickly with members going on to VALE, REIVERS, NEGATIVE STANDARDS and several others. Their passionate Oakland hardcore owes more to Berkeley/Oakland sounds from the '90s ("Lost At Sea In An Empty Glass" comes off like an amped up GAG ORDER outtake), and Kate's vocals hit fucking hard. Dual guitars can't shake their dirty rock tendencies, a welcome addition to a DIY hardcore band, but it's the honesty that SALTED EARTH offer/ed that makes the tape worth revisiting.
